In fiscal year 2008 the state spent over $110 million on miscellaneous and non-classified expenditures.

That is a lot of unclassified expenditures.

I was shocked to see some of the checks cut to private businesses outside of our state. These businesses provided basic services that can be found locally in Delaware. I have to imagine that if all money possible was spent locally and not shipped to neighboring states, then we would be able to place more of our transitioning workforce into new careers with Delaware companies. These new paychecks would generate tax revenue for the state, state employees would not have to worry as much about their wages being cut and etc. etc. I am not an expert, but isn't this how it works? Buy local and hire local, this needs to be mantra for the state as well as our local businesses. The country is in a deep hole and it is up to local government to have it's resident's best interests at heart. When I say 10% what comes to mind......? If you did not say the unemployment rate, then you need to read a newspaper or to visit one of your local Department of Labor offices.

While recipients of public money have expressed some angst about the spending disclosures, it is for the common good. See Pres. Obama's website: "Government should be transparent. Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing. Information maintained by the Federal Government is a national asset. My Administration will take appropriate action, consistent with law and policy, to disclose information rapidly in forms that the public can readily find and use."

Perhaps the State of Delaware should have been leaders in providing transparency. On the other hand we can thank Ceasar Rodney Institute instead. Kudos to CRI.

LLC tax transactions are sent to a PO Box in Newark, NJ. If sent overnight, they go to a street address in Rochelle Park, NJ.

If the state isn't processing tax receipts, can't they find anyone in Delaware to do it?

Okay let's take this one step further, while I'm busy at work earning an honest paycheck, let me see how much of my taxes are being spent on state/federal subsidy programs. Let's list each individual collecting and how much they collect monthly!
